Archivally safe, closed cell polyethylene foam is now available as extruded rods of 20mm diameters. This versatile material can be used to perform a variety of tasks, including the formation of "doughnut" supports for specimens, gasketing for storage cabinets and exhibit cases and padding for collection storage and/or shipment. Makes a good plug for certain size vials. The material is easily compressible, flexible and chemically inert. Use hot glue or heat from hot air blower to form and seal this all-purpose material to a suitable shape and form. Don't confuse with harmful polyurethane backer rod.
